An ace (also called a hole-in-one) is when a golfer sinks the ball in the hole with a single stroke from the tee. It is one of the rarest and most celebrated achievements in golf.
Most aces occur on par-3 holes, where the distance from tee to green is shortest. The odds of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one are estimated at approximately 12,500 to 1.
Famous Aces in History
The most famous ace in professional golf history is arguably Gene Sarazen's double eagle on the 15th hole at Augusta National during the 1935 Masters Tournament.
