Par is the predetermined number of strokes that an expert golfer is expected to need to complete a hole, a round, or a tournament. Par values are assigned based on the length and difficulty of each hole.
Standard Par Values
- Par 3: Up to 250 yards (men) / 210 yards (women)
- Par 4: 251-470 yards (men) / 211-400 yards (women)
- Par 5: 471+ yards (men) / 401-575 yards (women)
Most full-length golf courses have a total par of 70-72 for 18 holes.
