The green (or putting green) is the smooth, closely mown grass area surrounding the hole. This is where golfers use putters to roll the ball into the cup.
Greens are maintained at a height of about 3-4mm and their speed is measured using a Stimpmeter. Championship greens typically measure 10-13 on the Stimp scale.
