A bunker (or sand trap) is a hazard consisting of a prepared area of ground filled with sand. Bunkers are strategically placed around fairways and greens to penalize errant shots.
Types of Bunkers
- Fairway bunkers: Located along the fairway to catch tee shots
- Greenside bunkers: Positioned around the putting green
- Pot bunkers: Small, deep bunkers common on links courses
