A wedge is a high-lofted iron designed for short approach shots, chips, pitches, and bunker play. Most golfers carry 3-4 wedges.
Common Wedges
- Pitching Wedge (PW): 44-48° loft, 100-130 yard range
- Gap Wedge (GW): 50-52° loft, 80-110 yard range
- Sand Wedge (SW): 54-56° loft, designed for bunker shots
- Lob Wedge (LW): 58-60° loft, for high, soft-landing shots
